Sound samples are provided wherever possible, live information is provided whenever possible. Of course, all of this is possible thanks to your interest and support. Thanks for visiting. october 2008 newsAfter a long summer's nap, we're back with some solid winter plans and a bundle of aural adventures to last until 2009. Indeed, high on the list is the upcoming release of Tetragrammaton's new double album, Elegy for Native Tongues. Not only will this be released on the new Subvalent label, but it will first see the light of day when the group backs legendary vocalist Damo Suzuki on his 2008 tour of Japan. After recently sharing the stage with renowned kokyu player Chie Mukai at Test Tone, Tetragrammaton is set to deliver a psychedelic concussion at both the performance with Damo on November 18th and their own release party on December 4th. In other news, Golden Parabola's collaborative album Beauty Queens is finally available. Made just prior to the band's tour implosion in Laos and Thailand, it holds the secret to that coptic crossword puzzle collecting dust in the attic. Get it now! Finally, for all of those dwelling in the restless heart of Kansai, Jahiliyyah will be making their first tour of Osaka and Kyoto on the 26th and 27th of this month. The Osaka show is sure to be a resounding welcome, with Hide from Ultra-Bide holding up weighty bass duties. Check below for all of the sordid details. As always, thanks for your support. There are new mp3s on the listening post, and check the latest releases!

soundispatch 2007 release updateSoundispatch presents three new albums from three fine units: Pfeuti, Jahiliyyah and Missing Man Foundation. Pfeuti's first full-length album since the release of Pigeon Post in 2001, Last Terminus captures the band in a stripped-down setting, providing a post-jazz soundtrack to urban bustle and hum. Click here to take a listen. With a mighty heave, bedroom casualties Jahiliyyah have made an album worthy of playback in the walkmans of the hearing impaired. Rumbling tectonics meet collapsing melodies in a first release entitled Anon Nehrut. Check it out here. Finally, Missing Man Foundation have salvaged the best performances from their irregular appearances at the Test Tone event at Superdeluxe, in a kaleidoscopic journey aptly named Test Tone Sessions. soundispatchの2007年リリース情報SoundispatchからPfeuti、JahiliyyahとMissing Man Foundation、それぞれが新しいアルバムをリリース! 次に、Jahiliyyah(ジャヒリーヤ)は東京を中心に活動する新鋭三人によるユニット。 Dehydration - check. Basement retreat - check. We are reeling from the humidity and clamor of Tokyo and yet it seems we are at our most industrious. A whole ream of stuff to report, but we'll keep it short. Firstly, for those of you not yet in the know, Legofriendly has released their first full-length album Egg Beater. Bumpy, angular, accessible, and available at your favorite record shop or online. Check Intervall-audio for details about the album, and their current 'Jetsam' series of events. July and August promise to be filled with goodies. The recent Test Tone featured overseas artist Nick Hoffman (aka Katchmare), who captured the minds and hearts of the silent masses (great listeners), and a special session between L?K?O, Yoshio Otani, Cal Lyall and Tatsuhisa Yamamoto was a lovely free-for-all that did its part to fill in the gaps between noise, carnival folk, pachinko machines and factory work. Lovely. The August line-up is no exception, anthems from the post-rock songbook will be delivered in a myriad of forms - all on the 12th of the month at Super-Deluxe. Check the Test Tone page for details. Also, take some time to peruse our (in)complete summer menu below. Aural recipes to escape the simmering heat. may 2008 newsAs we march into the summer months, it seems that the heat brings the noisemongering hordes. Out from hibernation and into a whirl of spring activities, they make themselves heard. This spring, we have done our part by helping legendary drone psychedelist Pete Kember (aka Spectrum/Sonic Boom) with a sold-out show last month, and we immediately present a noisy festival as part of our ongoing Test Tone series. Our Sonic Seizure Extravaganza brings you sensory overload, captivating performance and intense audio explorations brought to you in the heart of the Noisy Hole. Bring your friends, your earplugs (maybe), and some listener grit. This month also signals a first: a Jahiliyyah double-header. Two days of mulched-out slumber drone for all of you lovers on the 29th and 30th of May. It's a holiday, so come celebrate! march 2008 newsThere is a barrage of activity in the next two months. We'll let you skim through the listings below to check it out for yourself, but there are some pretty spectacular concerts coming up with FDF, Jahiliyyah, and a number of new units with a special roster of international music purveyors. In fantastic news (for those in the know), Legofriendy will finally be releasing their album in tangible, almost-huggable CD format. Come help them celebrate at the pre-pre release celebrations at Test Tone in April. They will be joined by visual unit Tripon, as well as Canadian audiovisual engineers Instant Places, and Yukitomo Hamasaki from the undersung Japanese label 'matter'. Hope to see you soon. january 2008 newsHappy New Year 2008! It's the Year of the Rat, and although it's not the most endearing of the Chinese Zodiacs, we welcome all you Rats back with your cunning, order and penchant for atrocities. To honour the occasion, we will be holding a very special all-night extravaganza with a list of bands too great to overlook, yet too long to mention here. Check the Test Tone homepage for a full roundup of the joyful noise taking place January 12th at Super-Deluxe. Welcome the New Year with explosive delights! In other happy noises, Jahiliyyah will finally have a chance to sell their CD in earnest at two shows this month. One takes place at legendary B-horror movie bar Gari Gari on the 13th of January, followed by a stint at Kouenji's own Muryoku Muzenji on the 27th. Check below for particulars. december 2007 newsThe Year of the Pig is drawing to a close, and we are sad to see it go. Not only because there are so many fond memories of leaving the house to experience the bewildering, phenomenal and extraordinary of 2007, but the Year of the Rat doesn't have the 'ring' (or does it?)... We will not, however, go without a fitting farewell. Let's just say, the next two installments of our monthly Test Tone event will be spectacular. The final Test Tone of 2007 brings together a wonderfully varied evening of music and visuals: lush passages of orchestral rock, spacious noise-etched guitar improvisations, and a gigantic dose of live dub electronica, all happening beneath a tapestry of remarkable projected art. Also, stay tuned for our first party of 2008, where we'll break with tradition and run all night, hosting bands, DJs, circus clowns, live elephants and the finest acrobats in the world. As always, all of this is included in your drink order! Check the Test Tone Flickr page for a sample of what you may be missing. Coming up this month will be a few other great events, for those who like their improvised music with burning electronics. Hiroshi Hasegawa aka Astro will host the 7th volume of his event, Lunatic Scope, at Shinjuku Urga on December 7th. This will guarantee to be a crowd-deafening yawp of aural fuzz, featuring Astro, Governement Alpha, Tetragrammaton, and the ever-damaging Pain Jerk. Also, coming up on the 9th will be a very special night of guitar overkill at Ogikubo's Velvet Sun. Check below for more details. sept/oct 2007 newsTest Tone is back! After our August holiday, we had an excellent September line-up with the psychedelic rumblings of Sorane, the ethereal melodies of eje, and Yuki Kaneko's spellbinding performance of manipulated field recordings and electronics. October 9th will be one of the most explosive Test Tone parties yet, with the driving rhythms and freakout jams of Sheherherhers, the math-rock meets tropical dance party (I'm doing my best here - it's wonderfully insane) atmosphere of Hununhum, and champions of visual psychedelia, OHPIA! Everyone must come to this. In other news free-droning space-rockers Tetragrammaton will be joining the CRJ Festival at Hosei University on September 22nd, along with underground luminary Keiji Haino, Ryusenkei-body, MAS, and more. Also note that the lo-fi joyful union known as Hazuressive will release their second full album, Big Bear, next month. Avant-disco swingers FDF will join the release party at Akihabara Goodman on October 28th. Surely a fine party will be happening in Electric Town. |
